Abstract

An electric bus network is composed of various static and dynamic elements such as bus stops, routes, charging stations, and operating vehicles, which is featured as a typical complex system. This paper proposes a robustness assessment method for electric bus networks under disruptions. Firstly, this paper develops an electric bus transit network model, and establishes network topological characteristics and robustness indicators. Then, to analyze the robustness of electric bus networks under disruptions, this paper designs the process of targeted attacks. Finally, the proposed method is illustrated on the electric bus network in Jinzhou, China, under different disturbance scenarios. The results show that, when the node failure ratio reaches 0.2, the electric bus network tends to be completely paralyzed. In addition, node strength can be used to identify nodes that have a significant impact on the electric bus network robustness. When a node with stronger node strength is attacked, more lines are affected, and the overall energy consumption of the network increases. The insights provided in this paper can provide practical guidance on more sustainable and resilient electric bus network planning.
