Abstract

With the increasing demand for transportation, optimizing transfer services has become a significant challenge. Few studies have focused on Customized Bus (CB) stop deployment as a topic, and existing models require further optimization in comprehensiveness and applicability. To address these issues, a fusion clustering method (HC_K-means) is introduced to optimize CB stop deployment at large transport terminals. Simulation experiments at Nanjing South Railway Station in China validate HC_K-means under varying traffic demands, demonstrating its efficiency in planning temporary stops for dispersed and concentrated demand points. Compared with baseline models, HC_K-means demonstrates superior performance regarding the number of stops and passengers' walking distance. Across all traffic demand intensities, HC_K-means consistently outputs the minimum objective function value. Additionally, HC_K-means achieves optimal or nearly optimal service rates within a 500-meter service radius. Finally, the trend of the optimal number of stops is revealed under different conditions, which guides operators in personalized adjustments.
