Abstract
At this time, a nationally-accepted level-of-service (LOS) standard for measurement of various parameters of ferryboat service in urban settings does not exist. Traditional measures of effectiveness used for highways and transit services are not satisfactory when applied to ferry service. This article aims to advance this debate by presenting a case study and by proposing a reasonable set of LOS standards for urban ferryboat services.
