Abstract
This annual special issue of "Transportation: Planning, Policy, Research, Practice" comprises selected papers presented at the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) in January 2009. The theme of this special issue is "Vehicle Ownership and Mode Use: The Challenge of Sustainability." Six behavior modeling papers are included that deal with issues related to fuel price, vehicle ownership and vehicle miles traveled. These papers seek to advance the knowledge of automobile ownership, usage and mode choice decisions, and also provide the basis for further research.
