Abstract

Hampshire County Council participated in an international project co-ordinated by UITP (Union Internationale des Transports Publics) between December 1995 and June 1997: "Switching to Public Transport". The project aimed to increase public transport use through personalised marketing directed at people who had little knowledge of the public transport network and made little use of it. This paper describes the methodology and results of the trial in Winchester, in the context of Hampshire County- Council's transport policies.
